Peppermint Spa, Mindanao Ave., Quezon City - Swedish Massage 2

Hello readers! It's been a long while since my last post because I've been busy with school and stuff. I finally have smart phone with a good camera so all pictures I post now are taken by yours truly. ;)

I went to Peppermint Spa last Saturday, August 29, 2015 for the nth time. By the way, I wrote a previous blog about Peppermint Spa. Check it out  here.

Reception Desk
This is their list of their services with their respective prices. I took this flyer at the reception desk.

I chose my favorite Swedish Massage again which is Php350 per hour.

Lobby chairs

Once you have chosen which service you like, you will be asked to sit in the lobby. They will take your footwear and replace it with these white slippers as seen in the picture. Your feet will be immerse in warm water and be wiped dry by your attendant.

Massage room
Massage Bed
You will be next be taken inside the room where the massage bed is. I like this bed because there is hole for your head when you are lying down on your stomach.

Shorts
Your attendant will leave for a short while so that you can wear the shorts provided and placed on the massage bed. Yes, just the shorts alone and of course your underwear. This is because in Swedish Massage, oil is used so you need to be nude. Don't be shy. The lights are dim and the attendant will place towels on your body. Just lay face down on the bed when finished changing into shorts, the attendant will asked first if you're done already before entering the room.

My view while lying on the bed
As for my feedback for the Swedish massage, it was so-so. I guess the quality of every massage depends on the masseuse. It's all luck if the random masseuse designated to you is great. I guess you can choose your masseuse. But since I have no one specifically in mind, I was randomly given one. My last Swedish massage here was so good but unfortunately I forgot the name of the masseuse. So I suggest if you liked your masseuse, you better remember her name.

After the massage, you will be asked if you want warm water or hot tea. This will be served in the lobby. The attendant will leave you so you can change back into your clothes. I chose hot tea. There is also a rolled warm towel and the tip envelope.

Peppermint Spa's Loyalty Card

This is the thing that's new since my last visit. They finally have a loyalty card! When you avail 5 of their services within 3 months, you'll get a free massage. This visit is already counted as one. 4 more to go! Great.
They also now have a feedback and suggestions paper, too. The receptionist asked me, but I just said I had no idea in mind what to suggest that time.

Likes:
Their Swedish massage.
Massage bed.
Massage area with relaxing music.
Accessible place. Easily seen.

Dislikes:
When I arrived, a lot of masseuses were sitting in the lobby lazying while watching television. No one immediately greeted me. The receptionist was not at the reception desk. Oh come on, it was Saturday and I came at 5pm. There were not a lot of customers, so treat me better next time. I like Peppermint Spa, you know.

Will I go again?
Yes

***UPDATE: January 13, 2016 (Wednesday)***

I am really stressed since I'm reviewing for my upcoming board exam this April 2016 so I needed a massage to keep my sanity before I went home from my review center. :)) So of course I went to Peppermint Spa to avail my favorite Swedish massage there. Actually if you know where Peppermint Spa is, there are other near spas like The Healing Palm, Nuat Thai and Frution. I still chose Peppermint Spa though. :)

About the massage: Great! Bye stress, hello good vibes!

I think I arrived at Peppermint Spa quarter to 9pm. I waited a bit a the lobby. So when the massage was done, I checked my clock and it was already 10:20pm. I was confused since I didn't really check the time before my massage started.

Then I went to the lobby. Same old, same old procedures. Hot tea, etc. I'm already used to this place since I've been here many times already. I just don't blog everytime though. The reason why I updated this post is because of the following experience...

When I went to the reception desk to pay, the receptionist asked me if I was "my name" and my internal reaction was:

"You know me?" and "OMG what did I do wrong?" Hahaha
I answered yes I am. She said her boss read my blog and my internal reaction again was...

"She/He did?! I don't even remember what I wrote on my blog post" :))

And then she said I only have to pay one hour worth of Swedish massage but I actually got an additional thirty minutes. I said thank you. I was surprised and embarrassed. She said sorry and I did not understand why until I've read this post again. Ohh... Now I get it. I remembered.

AND YES, I was really treated better this time. Awesome comeback for good customer service!

Thank you!!! See you again next time. :)

Nuat Thai, Mindanao Ave., Quezon City - Thai Head, Back & Shoulder Massage

1-26-15

I WAS VERY DISSATISFIED.

Hi! This is my third post. Sorry this post is an honest rant.

I went to Nuat Thai, Mindanao Ave., Quezon City for the second time. I chose Thai Head, Back & Shoulder Massage for Php250/hr. I chose Nuat Thai foot massage for Php250/hr on my first time there. I was happy and satisfied with their foot massage. That's why I'm really disappointed now. :'(

The receptionist asked and seemed like she didn't want me to wash my feet since it was only head, back & shoulder massage. The masseuse asked me if I wanted to. I politely said it's okay if yes or no. Gladly, she still chose to wash my feet. The receptionist didn't want to. Was she being cheap by trying to conserve water by degrading their customer service?

During the massage, the masseuse seemed to be a novice. There was always a lag in between the previous step and next step of the massage. Those lags were waste of time and waste of time means waste of money. It was like the masseuse didn't know what she was doing and just did random things that she remembered. She was stopping a lot. :(

I don't regret being stingy and not giving a tip to the masseuse named Erah. I could be generous. I just didn't feel like generous that time. I even wanted my money back. Poor service. Unsatisfying massage. Unhappy customer. :(

HUHUHUHU. Give my time and money back. :(

The receptionist even gave me a loyalty card. Will I come back?

*Unless it's their foot massage...
It's still one of my favorites.

Nuat Thai, Mindanao Ave., Quezon City - Foot Massage

1-16-15 FRIDAY

Hey there! This is my second post. :)

Today, my older sister invited me to go at Nuat Thai. She had to text first to confirm if Nuat Thai's open since January 15-19, 2015 are declared national holidays because Pope Francis is in the Philippines. Fortunately, it's open. 3:30pm was the set appointment and we arrived promptly.

Nuat Thai is located on the third floor above Philippine National Bank (PNB) beside Honda along Mindanao Ave., Quezon City. You could see their large blue signage on the building so you probably can't miss it.

The moment I went inside Nuat Thai's lobby, I immediately smelled the fragnant aroma that spas usually have and hear relaxing background music. The lights were dim and yellow. The ambiance is soothing. The receptionist was expecting us and greeted my sister, "Ma'am Jen?" My sister chose foot massage for both of us. One hour of  Nuat Thai Foot Massage costs Php250. There are other services as well.

The two therapists assisted us to shelf where we swapped our shoes with their provided slippers then to the wash room where they washed our feet with warm water. The wash room had two sinks on the floor especially made for washing of feet.

Next, the therapists guided us to the foot massage area where there were two reclinable chairs and foot stands. They asked us to wait a while as they prepared the materials. They went back and wrapped us with belly warmers and neck warmers. Before starting, they asked us if we wanted soft, moderate, or hard pressure. My sister and I both chose moderate. Then, the foot massage begun.

Ahhhhhhh... It was great. I would say we got more than we paid for. I thought that foot massage was only focused on the feet and then done after, but they also massaged our legs, hand, neck, shoulders, head, then back for little time. I felt that it was a whole body massage but of course, the main focus and most of the one hour was allocated for the feet. But still, having other body areas massaged as well felt like a bonus. I would mostly recommend this especially to those who don't want nudity or to lie down on a bed. Happy customer here!

After the massage, the therapist asked us if we want hot tea or warm water. My sister and I both chose hot tea. They served us hot ginger tea. I think it's also called "salabat" in Filipino. Then my sister paid in the cashier and inserted tip in the two tip bags. It was her treat ofcourse since I'm still a student. We went to the near Starbucks after. Her treat again. Hihi. :>

Peppermint Spa, Mindanao Ave., Quezon City - Swedish Massage

 Hello readers! I'm bored. :3
This is my first post. Yay!

It's January and it's so cold. I've been having shoulder and back pains so I knew I needed a massage. I don't have Monday and Friday classes this semester so I decided to try a massage and/or spa every Monday or Friday. I went to Peppermint Spa last Monday, January 5, 2015.

Peppermint Spa is located along Mindanao Ave., Quezon City. It is right above Goldilocks near corner Mindanao Ave. and Tandang Sora Ave.

Above shows the some of the inside of Peppermint Spa like the sign, lighting, and bed. When you first enter Peppermint Spa, you will immediately smell the strong mint aroma within the place. I liked this but I don't know why it sting my eyes at first, but eventually my eyes got used to it.

I tried their Swedish Massage which costs Php350 for 1 hour. There are other services to choose from. The receptionist asked me if I liked stretching or relaxing. I answered relaxing and that's why she recommended Swedish massage.

A little knowledge about Swedish Massage that I got from the Internet. Swedish Massage is a technique wherein the therapist lubricates the skin with massage oil and performs various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish Massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Back to Peppermint Spa, before you go to the massage bed, your feet will be cleaned in warm water by the therapist in the lobby. Your footwear will be kept somewhere and you will use the given pair of slippers. Then you will go to the massage area where there is relaxing music and dim lights. In Swedish Massage, you will only be given shorts to wear and you will lie face down on the bed. The therapist will finally enter the massage bed area when you say you're ready and the relaxing massage begins!

I liked it! There is a little stretching 'cause the therapist asked me if I wanted a combination and I said yes. Even though I didn't tell the therapist beforehand that my right shoulder hurts, she figured it out. She told me that the nodules or "lamig" on my back rose up to my shoulder, and that's why it hurts. She recommended me to try Hot Stone Massage or Ventosa Massage (which are also available in Peppermint Spa for Php600 each) next time.

After the massage, you will be asked if you want to drink want hot tea or warm water. I chose tea. I drunk the tea in the lobby where I found my shoes already there. The tea was beside a tip envelope and rolled towel. I paid in the counter before leaving.

Overall, I felt relaxed, but unfortunately, my shoulder pain didn't go away. I think I need to try more than a relaxing massage next time. I would recommend it though, to those who want a relaxing massage! :)

Feeling stressed? Try it.
